I Get by With a Little Help

Many people had advice for me when I decided to leave the 9-5 Club. A forwarded e-mail reminded me that decisions about fitness and nutrition made at this time will reverberate through the rest of my life. I painted a shed today after a lunch of salad from a neighbor's garden, so I think I'm OK there, so far.

Other tips from friends:

Do at least one productive thing each day.

You'll have good days and bad days.

Don't take work home from the office.

From friends who are already retired or part-time, the most common comment is: "Isn't it fun?"

Yes, it is!

  1. Change and transitions can be hard. Even when things are exciting and new, it can be hard to not lose focus. Sounds like you're doing a great job. Can't wait to see what you do!

  2. Wow, Marileta, you've certainly done a great job planning for your productive retirement. If only I'd taken lessons from you before this happened to me (the 3rd and final time).
You have 2 novels nearly ready to go out!! Now, that's impressive. Sounds like you've taken to heart chunks of excellent advice. My danger if I were in that ideal setting of yours would be to spend too much time on that porch. I'd need a big push to get off it and travel to see new things, have new experiences and meet new people. That part is important, too (I keep telling myself but don't listen very well.

I loved your blog with all its links. Since I'm a dog lover now without a dog, I liked the part about your walks with your unleashed partner.

Enjoy this special time in your life. I'm eagerly awaiting the time when I'll see your novels in print.
